DeKalb's Tegrant Corporation recently donated $500 to support the capital campaign and restoration efforts at the Joseph F. Glidden Homestead and Historical Center, 921 W. Lincoln Hwy., DeKalb. Board president, Kathy Vance Siebrasse, accepted the donation from Tegrant vice president-HR, Phil Amberg. She thanked the company for its support of this important historical site, where Glidden invented the most commonly used type of barbed wire called "The Winner," patented Nov. 24, 1874. The Homestead is in the midst of a fund-raising campaign to help it purchase an adjacent property and develop the site as an education/innovation center and living history museum.
